What is a QA Engineer?

A quality assurance (QA) engineer (also known as a software QA engineer) is someone who actively monitors ICT projects to ensure that each phase of software development is performed to the highest possible standard. In this way, the QA engineer contributes to the quality of the software and the team can deliver the promised quality to the customer. The engineer is involved in every phase involved in the development of software applications. For example, the QA software engineer is present while work is being done related to software design, programming, configuring and reviewing the code, the testing phase and the implementation of the software at the client’s site. Also when it is time to renew or extend existing applications, the QA engineer will be present to maintain control over the project.

What does a QA Engineer do?

It is common for this position to require experience with .NET, Python, MySQL Server, AWS, C# and similar (programming) languages. Reviewing other people’s work and documenting applications should not be a problem for a quality assurance specialist. Working according to Agile / Scrum principles is also considered a plus.

The work of a QA engineer can be briefly described as follows:

– Drafting a quality policy

– Monitoring the QA policy

– Organizing process and product audits

– Handling internal and external complaints

– Analyzing errors in processes or products

– Setting up and implementing improvement projects

– Processing information in the quality management system

– Preparing quality management reports
