From Linux Roots to DevOps Leadership: Kristijan’s 9-Year Journey at Levi9

Kristijan Besu’s career in IT industry began with Linux and Red Hat. As a technical support engineer and an examiner instructor, he spent years traveling and teaching, conducting hands-on training sessions and speaking at open source conferences across Europe, from Macedonia and Bulgaria to Russia and Germany.

But then, 9 years ago, in 2016, Kristijan found the perfect match for the next chapter of his career – and this happened to be at Levi9. With a solid Linux background, the transition into the world of DevOps came naturally. Since then, his path has been marked by continuous learning, exciting challenges, and meaningful growth.

Shaping a Career Through Continuous Learning and Innovation

“With the rise of cloud computing, a DevOps position emerged as a natural direction for my career,” Kristijan says. “That’s what initially attracted me to Levi9 – and almost a decade later, I still love working here.”

Over the years, Kristijan has earned multiple AWS certifications, including the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate and the AWS Certified DevOps Professional. He is currently working as a DevOps Tech Lead.

Reflecting on his journey, Kristijan highlights key experiences that shaped his professional and personal development:

My DevOps team, our projects, certifications, and teambuilding events - those are moments I’m proud of. I also gained valuable knowledge in both technology and management.

One of his proudest achievements? Leading a DevOps team on the PVH project, all while serving as a Department Manager of the team, with no complaints along the way.

Why Passion, Progress, and Team Spirit Make All the Difference

He’s also witnessed positive changes at Levi9 over the years, including the introduction of new roles like Engineer Lead and Principle Architect: “These roles will help put more focus on technology and strengthen our business.” When asked what keeps him motivated after nearly a decade at the company, Kristijan doesn’t hesitate: “New technologies, advancement opportunities, and ongoing learning. The hybrid work environment and great work-life balance have stayed consistently good from the start.”

His advice to newcomers at Levi9?

“Focus on the right things. Keep learning new technologies. If you do that, success will follow – no matter the state of the economy.”

As he looks to the future, Kristijan remains excited about the challenges ahead: “There’s always something new to explore in DevOps. And at Levi9, I know I’ll have the support to keep growing.”

The Cost of Choice

Most companies spend up to 40% to much on cloud, are you? Cut spend, not options. Smart standardizations win.

Cloud cost overruns and growing technical debt rarely stem from tooling alone—they are symptoms of architectural and operational choices. This session looks at how senior technical leaders can regain control by connecting cloud spend directly to business value. We’ll explore unit‑economics thinking, ownership models, and lifecycle management practices that reduce waste while preserving delivery speed. You’ll learn how to combine FinOps principles with technical‑debt controls to create a cloud environment that is financially sustainable and technically healthy.

AI AGENTS DESERVE AI PLATFORM

Portable patterns for Azure, AWS and GCP that survive the next upgrade

AI agents are moving rapidly from experimentation into real production use cases, but architectures vary widely across cloud platforms. In this webinar, we compare practical patterns for building and running AI agents on Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform. We’ll focus on what to standardize, where to embrace cloud‑native capabilities, and how to design for security, observability, and future change. The goal is not to pick a winner, but to help leaders understand how to scale agent‑based solutions without locking themselves into fragile designs.
